Christmas @ the Trans

Tobias siblings annual Christmas photo.  The pictures look the same every year except for the addition of a few gray hairs and some wrinkles.  Oh well, that's life!
The cousins.  Ages range from 16 down to 4 mos.  Time flies when you're having fun!
This picture was taken on Christmas Eve right after Tay read to us from the bible.  He read about the Savior who would be born.  We praise the Lord that apart from all the fun and generous gift giving, eating delicious food, and celebrating, He is faithful to remind us and our children that we celebrate the most wonderful gift, Christ Jesus.

Bust a Move!

The children had a gift exchange with some of their buddies this week, so they were allowed to open a few gifts early.  Though very thankful for every single thing they receive, one gift in particular was a hit.  The Just Dance Wii game has been enjoyed by all 4.  As you can see in the picture, it even got the boys to bust a move!  It's always precious to Tay and me when we see our kids play (well-w/o fighting) together.

Girls' Swim Meet

Jazzy finishing up her breast stroke.
Mia starting her freestyle.

Jazzy and Mia recently joined a swim team.  They were able to participate in a swim meet, where the children can put to use what they've learned during swim lessons and at the same time challenge themselves to better their own previous times.  It is a wonderful bonus to participate in this with their buddies.

Thanksgiving Dinner

It was a blessing being able to visit Tay's extended family.  We only see them 2x a year, so the kids enjoyed soaking up the attention from the uncles, aunt, and grandparents.  They loved being doted on!  This was our Thanksgiving Dinner w/ them.

A Visit to Pretend City

Peekaboo!
A view of Pretend City.

Jasmine caught a big fish!
Bonding time between Dad & Offie.  Nothing
                                    better than buidling together!

While visiting Tay's parents in Irvine, CA, we visited a place called Pretend City.  It's basically a big warehouse that is divided into different "pretend cites."  There is a fire station, building site, farm, art station, grocery store, performing stage, fishing, doctors office, etc.  The kids had a wonderful time.

Biography of "John and Betty Stam" by Kathleen White

This book tells the story of 2 servants of Christ whose trust, faith, and peace were unwaveringly placed in their Savior, even til their brutal deaths.  Here is an excerpt from the book (statement by Betty Stam 9 yrs. before her death.)

"Lord, I give up my own purposes and plans, all my own desires and hopes and ambitions (whether they be fleshly or soulish) and accept Thy will for my life.  I give myself, my life, my all utterly to Thee, to be Thine forever.  I hand over to Thy keeping all of my friendships; all the people whom I love are to take a second place in my heart.  Fill me and seal me with Thy Holy Spirit.  Work out Thy whole will in my life, at any cost, now and forever.  To me to live is Christ. Amen!"

This book was a great encouragement to me.  It showed 2 lives who put Jesus Christ and the spreading of His Gospel above all else.

Not at all a good "Mom & Dad Tooth Fairy"!

Mia recently lost a baby tooth.  She was delighted to finally rid herself of that loose, bothersome tooth.  We made special accomodations for it beside her pillow and assured her that "Mom & Dad Tooth Fairy" would replace it with a treat.  When she awakes the following morning, she could look forward to "something".

Well, the next morning came.  I was sitting with Offie reading a book, and Mia comes down the stairs CRYING!  My immediate thought, "Oh maaaann!  I forgot to take her tooth and replace it with a treat!  This is the second time we forgot in 1 year!"
I called Daddy Tooth Fairy and told him what happened.  We both felt like major "losers".

We ended up giving her a $1 and promised to let her use it to buy her very own gum.
She now has her very own pack of gum.

School Days

"I love reading about history! I would love it more if I didn't have to do the chapter questions."  Jasmine Tran

Timmy is enjoying school very much. If asked what his favorite subject is, he will say “P.E.”! He looks forward to the yellow school bus that comes by every morning to pick him up. We have been blessed with caring teachers for him through the years.

Meanwhile, the 3 younger children are home with me (hopefully enjoying and learning). Here are a few pictures of Jasmine, Mia, Offie.

Mia is very excited to know her single digit addition.

The kids waiting for the hay truck ride
This was our 1st field trip of the school year.  We visited Cool Patch Pumpkins in Dixon, along with the Kawazoes and some of the other homeschooling families in our Charter School.  The kids always appreciate a day away from their book work!

Finished reading All Things For Good! (by Thomas Watson)

What a blessing this book has been!!! To share every single quote that God used to encourage me from this book would probably mean writing most of this book down. Instead, here are a couple of wonderful quotes from the last chapter.

"God has magnified rich grace toward you. You are called to great honour to be co-partners with the angels, and co-heirs with Christ; this should revive you in the worst of times." page 123

"God did not choose us because we were worthy, but by choosing us He maks us worthy." page 123

Next up: Looking forward to reading the missionary biography of John & Betty Stam.

More Washington Trip Pics

Family picture taken @ the Butchart Gardens...Also, a picture of the Government Building in Victoria.

Washington Trip--

Trip to the Pacific Northwest

We recently had the awesome opportunity to visit the Pacific Northwest. The entire family drove up to beautiful Washington State, and spent a couple of days amidst buildings that look like castles of centuries past inVictoria, B.C.. This trip was a wonderful combination of seeing new sights and spending quality time with our dear, dear friends, the Gale family.

Our week consisted of doing a day trip to Seattle, seeing the Empress Hotel & Butchart Gardens in Victoria, making smores over a fire pit @ the Gales, going for walks along the untouched land of WA, spending time @ a local lake. Most treasured were times of fellowship we had with Jason & Shelli, and the kids playing with one another. We are all very thankful for this trip.

All Things For Good by Thomas Watson

“Love is like fire: Where it burns in the heart, it will break forth at the lips. It will be elegant in setting forth God’s praise; love must have vent."

taken from All Things For Good by Thomas Watson

Above is a wonderful quote from one who loved God, Thomas Watson. It is a great reminder that my love for the Lord should be so immense that it can not be contained. It should propel me to tell others of His glorious name.

Jazzy & Mia - Summer Reading Program

Doing what you love and getting a prize for it! Jasmine and Mia are all smiles after receiving their prizes for completing the Summer Reading Program offerred by the local library. What generous prizes! They received a coupon for a free pizza, coupon for a kid's meal @ a local restaurant, library bag, and a book of their choosing. (wish they would offer it to adults!)

Thursday, July 8, 2010

Tay & I recently took the kids to the drive-in movies. It was a first for everybody (except dad). We all had a wonderful time! Toy Story 3 was a hit!

Boys' Big Moments

This is a big month for the boys. Timmy finished 6th grade and will be starting Middle School this fall. We are very thankful for all that God has done in his life!

Offie is also having a somewhat monumental month! Potty training began, and he is doing really well! There are less and less "accidents" w/ each new day.

The Summer Trim

Instead of going to the salon, the girls and I decided that it would be fun if I trimmed their hair this time. Scary thought! It was great! The clean up after, not so much.

Art Day @ Home

The kids and I put our creative juices to work one day. This is what we came up with using clay. We're not necessarily the creative type but we hope you can at least figure out what we made. Enjoy!

14th Year Anniversary!!!

Tay & I recently celebrated our 14th year anniverary. Praise the Lord!
His mom was kind enough to hang out w/ our kiddies while Tay & me had a relaxing
weekend away in the Pacific Grove/Monterey area. We enjoyed the wonderful scenery, the unique Antique Shops, good food, and most of all, each other.
